James Bruinsma has a diverse work experience in the finance field, primarily with Lee Enterprises. James started their career with Lee Enterprises in 1997 as a Controller/HR Director at Muscatine Journal. James then moved on to various roles within the company, including Controller at The Journal Times and Controller at The Times. In 2004, they became a Senior Internal Auditor at Lee Enterprises before taking on the role of Director of Finance at North County Times. James then continued to progress in their career and became the Director of Finance at the Lee Enterprises Corporate Finance Center in 2012.

James Bruinsma received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose University in 1989. James later obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Accounting and Finance from St. John's University in 1995.
