Max Palmer has extensive work experience, starting in 1997 as a Research Assistant at the University of Southampton. From 1998 to 2000, they worked as a Software Engineer at Thermo Electron. Max then moved on to Oxford Instruments, where they held the positions of Senior Software Engineer from 2000 to 2007 and Senior Software Engineer from 2007 to 2011. During this time, they also worked as a Senior Consultant at Lab49 for a brief period in 2007. In 2011, they became the Lead Developer at GL Garrad Hassan. From 2012 to 2015, Max served as the Technical Lead (Software Group) and later as a Senior Engineer at DNV GL - Renewables. Max then joined DNV GL in 2015 as a Product Architect. Since 2018, Max has been with Ultraleap, where they have held various roles, including Principal Software Architect on the XR Team and Tech Lead for different projects, such as hand tracking on Qualcomm's XR2 platform and mid air haptic and hand tracking integration into Unreal and Unity.
Max Palmer obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Space Science from the University of Southampton, where they studied from 1990 to 1993. Max then pursued a PhD in Applied Nuclear Physics at the same institution, completing it from 1993 to 1997.
