Robin Farr has nearly 22 years of experience in the field of human resources, communications, and public affairs. They most recently served as the Director of People and Culture at Lavender since January 2023. Prior to that, Farr held the position of Executive Director of People and Culture at Travel Alberta from December 2017 to January 2023. Their responsibilities at Travel Alberta included developing and implementing strategic HR plans, managing internal communications, and facilitating change management.
Before joining Travel Alberta, Farr worked at WestJet as the Director of Culture and Communications from January 2016 to September 2017, and as the Communications Manager from December 2011 to January 2016. They also held various roles at the BC Public Service, including Director of Communications and Engagement from September 2009 to October 2011, A/Executive Director in 2011, Manager of the Public Service Initiative from January 2007 to September 2009, and Public Affairs Officer from January 2006 to January 2007. Farr began their career as a Human Resources Consultant at the Public Service Commission of Canada from April 2001 to November 2006.
Robin Farr has a strong educational background with a focus on professional communications, interdisciplinary studies, and family science. They obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Professional Communications from Royal Roads University. Currently, Robin is pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies at Athabasca University, expected to be completed in 2024. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Family Science from The University of British Columbia. Robin also possesses a Human Resources Certificate from Camosun College. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained Emotional Intelligence (EQ) certification from The Emotional Intelligence Training Company Inc. in November 2019, as well as Dare to Lead training from Dare to Leadâ„¢ in September 2019.
