Maris Sarkans has extensive work experience in finance and control roles. Maris started their career as an Auditor at Deloitte in 2003. Maris then joined GE Money Bank AB, where they served as a Lead Analyst in Finance from 2006 to 2009. From 2010 to 2012, Maris was the Nordic Finance Assistant Controller and Leader of the Regional Finance Team at GE Money Bank AB. In 2013, they moved on to Atea Global Services Ltd., where they worked as a Senior Business Controller until 2015. Since 2015, Maris has been the Head of Financial Control Division at Latvijas Mobilais Telefons SIA.

Maris Sarkans pursued their education from 1997 to 2004 at Latvijas Universitate. During this period, they obtained a Master's degree in Finance and Financial Management.
