Jana Nieman is a Senior Medical Technologist at Lancet Laboratories since June 2023, specializing in the processing and analysis of samples for congenital aberrations. Previously, Jana served as a Medical Technologist at DNALYSIS Biotechnology from March 2018 to May 2023, focusing on the analysis of buccal swabs, blood samples for Nutrigenomics and Pharmacogenomics, as well as COVID-19 testing, and fulfilling roles in stock control, first aid, and fire safety. From February 2014 to February 2018, Jana worked at NHLS where responsibilities included processing blood, bone marrow, and tissue samples for chromosome analysis and FISH, along with training students and involvement in quality control processes. The career began as a Medical Technologist Intern at NHLS with a focus on conventional karyotyping and FISH analysis. Jana holds a National Diploma in Biomedical Technology from Nelson Mandela University, completed in 2013.
