James Sommerville is an experienced policy and partnerships director currently serving as a councillor for the Halton-with-Aughton and Kellet ward at Lancaster City Council since May 2023. With a career spanning over two decades, James has held various leadership positions, including roles at AgilityEco where responsibilities involved developing multi-million pound energy efficiency and fuel poverty projects, and at the Green Rose Community Interest Company as founder and director, offering support to households in Lancashire. Previous positions include leading initiatives to combat fuel poverty at Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council and Blackpool Council, as well as managing partnerships and communications in local government contexts. James holds a BSc in Psychology from Cardiff University and a PG Dip in Occupational Psychology from the University of Worcester.
