Sakthi Karunanithi currently serves as the Director of Public Health and Director of Population Healthcare at Lancashire County Council since April 2013. Prior to this role, Sakthi was a Consultant in Public Health Medicine (Locum) and AQUA Associate at NHS North Lancashire from March 2012 to April 2013, focusing on public health leadership related to quality and prevention at the PCT Cluster. Sakthi's earlier experience includes serving as a Specialist Registrar in Public Health Medicine at NHS North West/NHS North Lancashire from September 2006 to February 2012, and as a NICE Scholar at the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence, where work revolved around the development of a regional CQUIN scheme for stroke care. Sakthi holds a Fellowship in Public Health from the Mersey Deanery School, a Master of Public Health from the University of Liverpool, an M.D. in Community Health Administration from the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, and an MBBS from Coimbatore Medical College.
