Alan Vezina has a varied and extensive work experience. Alan started their career as a Computer Technician at Canton Computers in 2007 and worked there until 2011. In 2010, they worked as a Freelance Web Designer, creating a standards-compliant static website.

In 2011, Alan joined LabKey Software as a Software Engineer, where they worked until 2014. Alan was a full-stack engineer, using Java on the back end and JavaScript on the front end. Alan played a crucial role in developing software that allowed scientists and researchers to organize, analyze, visualize, and share their data. Alan also contributed to reducing the runtime of a genomic data processing pipeline from 8 hours to seconds.

In 2014, Alan co-founded jydo, an IoT platform with a focus on A/V systems. Alan worked as the CTO and used technologies such as Python, Bottle, SQLAlchemy, Postgres, JavaScript, and EmberJs. Alan built an abstraction layer that allowed Jydo to use device models interchangeably, regardless of the manufacturer or protocol.

From 2016 to 2017, Alan worked at Zonar Systems as a Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead. Alan led the development efforts for MyBusVue and Route Board, and MyBusVue involved a partial rewrite of a large legacy application. Alan used Python, JS, Pyramid, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Angular, and jQuery for this role.

In 2017, Alan joined ModusBox as a Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead. Alan worked on a Mulesoft-focused metrics platform, contributing to aspects like enterprise monitoring, alerting, capacity management, and root cause issue analysis. Their work involved using technologies such as Python 3 with Flask, Pandas, Marshmallow, and Pytest, as well as JavaScript with React and D3.js. Alan also utilized Cassandra as a data store.

Since 2017, Alan has also been involved with PyCascades, serving as a co-organizer. PyCascades is a regional PyCon in the Pacific Northwest, and Alan has been a founding member of the team.
