Jim Hynson has 10 years of software engineering experience. Jim began their career in 2008 as an Advisory IT Specialist at IBM, where they developed end-to-end custom solutions and provided technical support and analysis for IBM's federal government clients. Jim also produced deliverables using multiple application development methodologies, including agile, and worked with technologies such as Java and JavaScript-based web applications. In 2007, they worked as a Java UI Specialist at UCAR contracting to the ECU Biology Department, where they designed and implemented a Java Swing-based user interface wrapper application for handling a suite of complex input parameters. Jim currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at L2T, LLC since 2018.

Jim Hynson obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from East Carolina University between 2003 and 2008. Jim also holds a HAM Operator License: General from the Federal Communications Commission, which they obtained in August of 2019. Additionally, they hold a HAM Operator License: Technician from the Federal Communications Commission, which they obtained in August of 2018. Finally, they hold a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Certification + Child CPR AED, Infant CPR from the American Heart Association, which they obtained in February of 2022.
