Guan Yee Chan has work experience as a kdb+ Developer at two different companies, KX and FD Technologies, starting in July 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Cohort Representative for the NUS Electrical and Computer Engineering Undergraduate Student Council from August 2017 to May 2021. They also worked as a member of the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts Crew from August 2017 to May 2021, and as the Logistics Director from August 2018 to April 2019. In addition, Guan Yee Chan held positions as a Maritime Analytics Intern at the National University of Singapore in December 2020, a Teaching Assistant at NUS Business School from August 2019 to November 2019, and a Circuit Design and Verification Testing Intern at Rockwell Automation from May 2019 to August 2019. They also served as the Marketing Director for the National University of Singapore Students' Union (NUSSU) from December 2018 to May 2019, and as a Marketing Executive from January 2018 to November 2018. Furthermore, they worked as a Research Assistant at the National University of Singapore from March 2018 to August 2018, and as a Tax Officer at IRAS from January 2017 to June 2017.

Guan Yee Chan began their education at SMK Taman Daya, where they obtained a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Guan Yee then attended Innova Junior College from 2015 to 2016, where they earned a GCE A-Level.

In 2017, Guan Yee Chan enrolled at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree with a focus on Electrical Engineering, Innovation, and Design. Guan Yee graduated from NUS in 2021.

During their time at NUS, Guan Yee Chan also obtained an iDP Certificate in 2021, showcasing their proficiency in interdisciplinary problem-solving. In 2020, they briefly attended ETH Zürich for a study program in Electrical Engineering. However, no specific degree was mentioned.

Additionally, Guan Yee Chan has obtained several certifications to augment their education. In June 2022, they completed the KX Fundamentals Capstone and the KX Advanced Course offered by KX. In November 2022, they obtained a Professional Certificate in Text Processing (NLP) from NUS. Furthermore, in January 2023, they received an Executive Certificate in Economic Development in the Digital Age from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
