Monica Tovar has a diverse work experience in various roles within the communications and media industry. Monica started their career at Entravision Communications in 1997, where they served as a National Sales Assistant and Business Manager. In this role, they supported the National Sales Director in creating proposals and annual buys, as well as coordinating promotional events for national clients. Monica then transitioned to Stewart Title in 2004, where they worked as a New Business Development professional until 2007. After that, they joined iHeartMedia as a Local Sales Manager and later moved to Mapleton Communications, where they currently hold the position of Director of Sales since 2015.

Monica Tovar began their education at Alisal High School in 1992, where they completed their studies in 1994. Monica then attended Central High School in 1994-1995, although there is no information available regarding their degree or field of study during this time. Monica later enrolled in ITT Technical Institute in 1995 to pursue a degree in Computer Aided Drafting, which they completed in 1996.
