Katherin Vela has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Katherin currently works at Koombea as a Mid Software Project Manager since April 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Junior Software Project Manager at the same company from October 2021 to March 2023. Before joining Koombea, they were a Learning Experience Designer at Edusites Colombia from July 2018. Katherin also worked at Fundación Capital, where they held the roles of Product Owner and Digital Content Specialist from October 2020 to October 2021 and from September 2019 to September 2020, respectively. Further back in their career, they were an ICT Advisor for Education/Multimedia Producer at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano from May 2018 to September 2019, and an ICT Support for Education at Universidad de Los Andes from January 2015 to May 2018. Katherin began their professional journey as an Intern at Universidad de los Andes from February 2010 to January 2014, where they supported various processes associated with the production and support team.

Katherine Vela's education history begins with their enrollment at the Universidad del Norte in 2020, where they pursued a degree in Programming - Digital Abilities with a field of study in Computer Software Engineering. Following this, they attended the University of New Orleans until 2022 to obtain a degree in English as a Second Language. Moreover, Katherine Vela is currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering at Politénico Grancolombiano, expected to be completed by 2025.

In addition to their formal education, Katherine Vela has also obtained several certifications. In January 2019, they received a certification in Fundamentals of Graphic Design from Coursera. Katherin then went on to obtain a certification in Viral Marketing and How to Craft Contagious Content in August 2020, also from Coursera. In May 2021, they obtained a certification in Foundations of Project Management from the same institution. Katherin further enhanced their skills by achieving a Membership Certificate from The Interaction Design Foundation in August 2021. Lastly, in October 2018, Katherine Vela obtained a Moodle Course Creator Certification, although the institution providing this certification is unspecified.
