Kathy Lindekens has a diverse and extensive work experience. Kathy is the founding president of Bednet since February 2004. In 1989, Kathy founded the campaign Kom op tegen Kanker, which aimed to break the taboo around cancer. Kathy served as the president of the organization until 1995 and remained a board member until 2003. At VRT, Kathy worked as a coordinator of youth projects and journalist from May 2003 to July 2020. Additionally, they were a youth advisor from May 2012 to June 2020, where they provided expertise on youth matters and coordinated various VRT youth projects. Prior to their role at VRT, Kathy worked as an alderman/schepen at Stad Antwerpen from January 2001 to May 2003. In 1999, they served as a senator in the Belgian Senate, and from 1995 to 1999, they were a member of parliament in the Vlaams Parlement. Kathy started their career at BRT/BRTN in November 1976 as a host for radio and television programs, and they stayed with the organization until June 1995.
Kathy Lindekens pursued their education from 1972 to 1977, attending the University of Antwerp. During this time, they focused on their studies in translation and obtained a degree in translator/vertaler.
