Dr. Peter Scholz

Head Of Art Collections Before 1860 / Head Of Department Court Culture at Classic Foundation Weimar

Dr. Peter Scholz has diverse and extensive work experience in the field of art history. Dr. Peter is currently the Head of Art Collections before 1860 and the Head of Department Court Culture at Klassik Stiftung Weimar since October 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Head of the Department of Art before 1900 at Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum from August 2017 to September 2022.

Dr. Scholz has also worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Konstanz from August 2015 to July 2017, and as an Assistant Curator at Staatsgalerie Stuttgart from January 2015 to July 2017. Before their tenure at these institutions, they worked as an Independent Art Historian from December 2012 to December 2014.

Their earlier roles include serving as a Senior Lecturer and a Predoctoral research fellow at the University of Zurich from September 2011 to November 2012 and December 2010 to November 2012, respectively. Dr. Peter also worked as a Predoctoral scholar and a Predoctoral scientific assistant at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut from December 2007 to November 2010 and April 2009 to November 2010, respectively.

Dr. Scholz started their career as a Student scientific assistant at Freie Universität Berlin from January 2004 to November 2007.

Dr. Peter Scholz's education history starts in 1998 when they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. During their time there, their field of study focused on English Philology, Italian Philology, and Near Eastern Archaeology. From 2000 to 2001, they continued their studies at the University of Birmingham. Unfortunately, details about their degree name and field of study during this period are not provided. Dr. Peter then joined Freie Universität Berlin from 2002 to 2007, pursuing a degree called Magister Artium in Art History and English Philology. Finally, Dr. Scholz obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Art History from the University of Zurich, completing their studies from 2008 to 2013.
