Steven Burgess is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the fields of chemistry and patent prosecution. Currently serving as a Patent Agent at Klarquist Sparkman, LLP since January 2013, Steven focuses on preparing and prosecuting U.S. patents. Prior to this role, Steven worked at DesignMedix, Inc. as a Senior Scientist from October 2008 to December 2012, where responsibilities included drug discovery and development, specifically in hit to lead and lead optimization to enhance selectivity and ADMET properties. Earlier career highlights include serving as a Scientist, Team Leader, and Research Chemist at Maybridge from January 1992 to June 2003. Steven holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Portland State University (2003-2008) and a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol (1989-1992), with specialized knowledge in medicinal chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry focused on small molecule heterocycles.
