Steven Gillmann

Head of Product at Kitchen Stories

Steven Gillmann is currently the Head of Product at Kitchen Stories. Steven has been with the company since February 2020 and in their current role for just over two years. Prior to that, they were with another company for just under two years as Head of Product.

As Head of Product, Steven is responsible for the satisfaction, success and growth of the product team. Steven has established a new, cross-functional prioritization process based on an adapted Lean Canvas, including RASCI and RICE. Steven has also deepened the knowledge sharing and education within Product and Data, and developed a Product Strategy based on the company strategy with their team. Additionally, they have transformed Business Intelligence (BI) into Data Analytics and established a first version of a DWH, ETL and ELT processes as well as proper data documentation in collaboration with Data Analytics and the Head of Engineering.

In their current role, Steven is also responsible for representing Product, Tech and BI/Data within the Strategy Team, and for owning the Product Strategy. Steven is in charge of cost controlling for Product, Tech and BI/Data in close collaboration with our Head of Engineering, including contract negotiations.

Some of Steven's additional responsibilities, achievements & learnings include data engineering in collaboration with Data Analyst and Head of Engineering, maintaining ETL / ELT processes using a CRON based task to extract data from sources and load them into Snowflake based on Python, developing basic data transformation processes based on streams and tasks in Snowflake including processes for backfilling, re-filling and cleaning duplicated data based on Jupyter Notebooks, introducing best-practices in data analytics and data engineering including setting up review processes, beta/staging system and code-styling, maintaining our advanced data reporting next to Amplitude via a hosted Shinyapps.io instance using R, and ensuring data completeness by introducing a data monitoring application.

They work with Sebastian Graus - Head of Creative, Rubén Beltrán del Río - Head Of Engineering, and Kirsten Hanka - Head of Cross-Channel Communications. Steven Gillmann reports to Mengting Gao, Founder and Managing Director at Kitchen Stories.
