Louis Otero is an experienced maritime professional with a robust background in vessel management and operations. Currently serving as Engineering Manager for Shipyards and Port Captain at Kirby since August 2014, Louis is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of company vessels in the North East and Gulf of Mexico, conducting internal audits and management inspections. Previous roles with Kirby Offshore Marine include Mate, Second Mate, and AB Deckhand, where Louis contributed to cargo operations and vessel management across various regions. An early career began as an Intern/Yard Worker, providing support for administrative tasks and vessel preparation. Louis holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from SUNY Maritime College, complemented by experience as an Admissions Counselor and Yard Worker.
