Juan Martinez is the Director of Nutrition Education & Hunger Prevention at Kings Community Action Organization. Previously, Juan was a Community Liaison Intern at the New York City Council and a Legal Administrative Assistant at SPEARS & IMES LLP.
Juan has always been interested in giving back to their community. As an intern at the New York City Council, Juan managed constituent engagement and participated in weekly meetings with senior staff to identify new constituent issues and propose potential solutions. Juan also drafted outreach material such as newsletters, posters, and pamphlets that were disseminated to constituents.
After their internship, Juan became a Legal Administrative Assistant at SPEARS & IMES LLP. In this role, they read and edited case files for accuracy to ensure alignment with client meetings and attorney directives. Juan also classified complex legal documents including contracts, financial spreadsheets, and depositions. Additionally, they oversaw various projects on behalf of the firm, such as organizing and coordinating document production between paralegals, attorneys, clients and the record retention vendor. Juan also organized and maintained the firm’s database including physical and electronic files.
Juan’s experience as an intern and administrative assistant prepared him for their current role as Director of Nutrition Education & Hunger Prevention at Kings Community Action Organization. In this role, Juan is responsible for planning and implementing nutrition education programs that promote healthy eating habits and prevent hunger. Juan Martinez is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Baruch College. Juan has also completed a professional mentorship program at Streetwise Partners Program and an Advanced Regents High School Diploma at Millennium Brooklyn High School.
