Stig Hansen co-founded Kimia Therapeutics in January 2023 and currently serves as the President and CEO. Prior to this, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Carmot Therapeutics, Inc. from August 2008 to January 2023, and was also a Member of the Board of Directors starting in March 2008. Before that, Stig worked at Sunesis Pharmaceuticals as the Associate Director of Biology from August 2000 to August 2008.

Stig Hansen's education history begins in 1985 when they enrolled at the University of Copenhagen. Stig pursued a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and completed their studies in 1991. Following their master's degree, Stig continued their education at the same university and obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology, completing the program in 1996. Afterward, they took a position as a Post-Doc and Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. This opportunity allowed him to further specialize in the fields of Molecular Biology and Neuroscience, and they remained at the university until 2000.
