Tom Blackburn has a diverse work experience in the field of security engineering and IT support. Tom started their career in 2013 at Quorn Foods as an IT Support intern, where they provided support to over 500 users and handled various tasks including hardware maintenance and troubleshooting. In 2015, they joined tombola.co.uk as an Information Security Analyst, where they were responsible for the integration and management of a SIEM platform, as well as compliance and risk management.

In 2018, Tom moved to Atom bank, initially working as a DevSecOps/Security Operations Analyst, handling operational security in AWS and on-premise. Tom then became a Principal Security Engineer and was involved in security engineering and operations. During this time, they gained expertise in cloud security and actively contributed to the company's security initiatives.

In 2023, Tom joined Currencycloud as a Security Engineer, focusing on enhancing the company's security measures. Later in the same year, they moved to Ki Insurance as a Cloud Security Engineer. Overall, Tom's work experience showcases their strong background in security engineering, operations, and IT support, with a consistent focus on ensuring the security and compliance of the organizations they have worked for.

Tom Blackburn attended Durham Sixth Form Centre from 2009 to 2011, where they earned their A Level in Biology, Law, and Psychology. Tom then went on to enroll at the University of Sunderland from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Forensics.

In addition to their formal education, Tom has obtained several certifications. In April 2017, they achieved the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification from (ISC)². In July 2018, they earned the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA) certification from Amazon Web Services. Most recently, in October 2020, they obtained the Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification from Google.
