Norman Thompson worked as the Head of Technical Services at Kerridge Commercial Systems from 1992 onwards. In this role, they were responsible for specifying, provisioning, and supporting on-premise and cloud-based ERP solutions. Norman also provided level 3 support to global support teams and handled the specification, installation, and support of complete IT solutions. Before that, Norman had a student placement at the Ministry of Defence, Procurement Executive from 1989 to 1990.

Norman Thompson completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Staffordshire University, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Prior to that, they attended Seaton Burn High School from 1982 to 1987, although no degree or field of study is specified for their high school education.

In addition to their formal education, Norman Thompson has obtained several certifications. Norman became a Full Member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in December 2021. Norman also completed various online courses and obtained certifications in Change Management Tips for Leaders, Linux Security and Hardening Essential Training, Putting ITIL® into Practice: DevOps for ITIL® Practitioners, Putting ITIL® Into Practice: Applying ITIL® 3 Foundation Concepts, Putting ITIL® into Practice: Problem Management Techniques, and GDPR Compliance: Essential Training. These certifications were obtained between April 2021 and November 2021 from LinkedIn.
