Shawn Hensler has a diverse work experience. Shawn started their career in 1994 as an Air Freight Load Supervisor at UPS and worked there until 1996. Shawn then joined the Louisville Metro Government as a Louisville Metro Police Lieutenant in September 1996 and served in that role until August 2017. In November 2017, they became an Executive Adviser at the Commonwealth of Kentucky OAG Department of Criminal Investigations and worked there until May 2018. Since May 2018, Shawn Hensler has been working as the Executive Director of Safety and Security / Director of KSFB Police at Kentucky Venues.
Shawn Hensler attended Indiana University Southeast from 1993 to 1996, where they studied Political Science and Government. In 1996, they obtained a Police Officer Professional Standards Certificate from the Graduate of Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy at Eastern Kentucky University. In 1997, they also obtained the Kentucky Police Officers Professional Certificate from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.
In 2013, Shawn Hensler graduated from the Southern Police Institute's Executive Leadership Program. Shawn then pursued further education at the University of Louisville from 2014 to 2018, focusing on Organizational Development and Criminal Justice.
In terms of additional certifications, Shawn obtained the CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certification in June 1997 from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association. In 2016, they completed the FEMA Professional Development Series from FEMA. Most recently, in August 2021, Shawn obtained the Special Law Enforcement Officer certification from the Kentucky Justice and Public Protection Cabinet.
