Alex Torres has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. From 2020 to present, they have worked at Kearney & Company as a Senior Analyst, where they provide guidance and compliance assistance in the area of OMB Circular A-123 and the Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019. They also develop process narratives, support clients through risk identification and control testing, and contribute to process improvements. Prior to this, from 2020 to 2022, they worked as an Analyst at the same company, reviewing financial information submitted by clients for accuracy and compliance and performing quality control reviews of client documentation.
In 2019, Alex worked as a Federal Accounting Intern at the Smithsonian Institution, where they prepared monthly account reconciliations and assisted with endowment accounting and financial reporting. In 2018, they served as a General Accounting and Reporting Intern at the same institution, assisting the general accounting team in developing a Statement of Functional Expenses and producing visual illustrations of expenses.
In 2017, Alex worked as a Consultant at the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of Natural History, reconciling federal and private funds and maintaining and tracking the status of funds and accounts.
Before their work in accounting and finance, Alex had experience in security services as a Security Officer at Blueline Security Services from 2015 to 2016. They performed regular patrols, supervised sites, and communicated with authorities in cases of suspicious activity.
Alex also served in the US Army from 2010 to 2015 as an Indirect Fire Support Infantryman, where they were responsible for over $1 million in government property, collected data for reports, and monitored and secured government property.
Alex Torres has a diverse education history. In 2015, they attended Montgomery College and obtained an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Business. Following this, from 2018 to 2020, they attended George Mason University - School of Business and earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting. Currently, Alex is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Mary Washington, with an expected completion date in 2023.
