Hiroshi Maruyama is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in technology and academia. Currently serving as an Executive Fellow at Kao Corporation and a Project Professor at The University of Tokyo since 2020, Maruyama also holds leadership roles as Director and Chief Strategy Officer at Preferred Networks, Inc. since 2016. Previously, Maruyama was Vice Director-General and Professor at The Institute of Statistical Mathematics from 2011 to 2020, and held a significant position as Deputy Group Executive at Canon Inc. from 2009 to 2010. An earlier career at IBM spanned over 26 years, culminating in the role of Director at the Tokyo Research Laboratory. Maruyama earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, completing studies from 1977 to 1983.
