Daniel Fipke has a diverse work experience in the energy sector. Daniel co-founded Kanin Energy in 2020, where they serve as the Chief Development Officer. Prior to that, they worked as the Vice President of Commercial and Regulatory at Terrapin Geothermics from 2019 to 2020. Before that, they were a Senior Commercial Analyst at AESO from 2018 to 2019, where they led various projects and engaged with regulatory stakeholders. From 2017 to 2018, Daniel worked as a Senior Advisor, Engagement and Integration at the Department of Energy, Government of Alberta, where they evaluated the electricity sector governance structure and designed engagements for key government initiatives. Daniel also has experience at AESO as a Commercial Analyst from 2015 to 2017 and as a Forecast Analyst from 2011 to 2015, where they managed procurement processes and developed long-term generation forecasts. Daniel's early career included roles as an Analyst at the Department of Energy, Government of Alberta from 2010 to 2011 and as the Program Lead at the International Student Energy Summit from 2008 to 2009.
Daniel Fipke pursued their education starting in 2004 at the University of Calgary, where they completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics in 2009. Following this, from 2014 to 2016, they attended Royal Roads University, where they obtained a Master of Environment and Management (MEM) degree, specializing in Environment and Management.
