Curtis Bell

Chief Judge Of Circuit/probate Court, Pro Tempore at Kalamazoo County Government

Curtis Bell is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the judiciary and academia. Currently serving as Teaching Faculty at The National Judicial College since 2017, Curtis has contributed to the development of updated course curriculum on contemporary issues in Probate, presenting to judges nationwide, including Native American Tribes. As the Chief Judge of Circuit/Probate Court, Pro Tempore for Kalamazoo County Government, Curtis oversees all court operations, managing 230 employees. Curtis has held multiple roles within the Michigan judicial system, including Judge of Kalamazoo County Probate Court and various committee memberships within the State Court Administrative Office. Additionally, Curtis actively participates in mental health initiatives as a Council Member for the Governor's Mental Health Diversion Council. Education includes a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
