Andy Bindman serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Kaiser Permanente since November 2020. In addition, Andy holds the position of Editor in Chief at Health Services Research since 2018. Previous roles include Professor of Medicine, Health Policy, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics at UCSF from August 1989 to November 2020, and Director at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality from May 2016 to January 2017. Andy also contributed as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 2011 to 2015, Chief Medical Officer at MACPAC from 2010 to 2011, and Policy Fellow for the Energy and Commerce Committee at the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2010. Additionally, Andy was Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center from 1996 to 2010, and served as a Visiting Professor at University College London in 1999-2000. Andy obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Social Relations from Harvard University.
