Clarissa Santos Rocha

Research Scientist at Juno Bio

Clarissa Santos Rocha is a Research Scientist at Juno Bio since April 2021, focusing on microbiota-host interactions in chronic viral infections. Previously, Clarissa served as a Postdoctoral Researcher/Project Scientist at the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine from April 2014 to April 2021, where research involved characterizing gut dysbiosis associated with SIV and CMV and applying various techniques such as metabolomics and transcriptomics. Clarissa's postdoctoral work at UFMG from January 2012 to March 2014 examined the anti-inflammatory effects of probiotics, utilizing murine models and cell cultures. Earlier experience includes a PhD at INRA from October 2007 to November 2011, where Clarissa investigated immune modulation properties of Lactobacillus delbrueckii, as well as a Master’s thesis at UFMG focused on cloning antigens of biotechnological interest. Clarissa holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology from Paris-Sud University, a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Federal University of Ceara, and a Master’s degree in Genetics from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.
