Tamara Ashford has extensive legal and leadership experience, currently serving as a member of Leadership Arlington since 2007 and as a member and past president of The Junior League of Northern Virginia since 2000. Ashford held various significant positions at the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division from 1997 to 2014, culminating in the role of Acting Assistant Attorney General. Additionally, Ashford practiced law at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Miller & Chevalier, and the Internal Revenue Service, demonstrating expertise in tax law and appellate matters. Academic credentials include an LL.M. in Tax from the University of Miami School of Law, a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, and a BA in Public Policy Studies from Duke University.
