Lonell Liburd has over 8 years of work experience in the software engineering industry. In 2012, they were a Lead Demonstrator and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of the West Indies. Lonell also held the role of Software Architect at Carib Cultivate, where they pioneered a cross-platform application targeted at the Agriculture industry. In 2014, they held two roles as a Software Developer, one at GroupBy Inc. and the other at Teleios Systems Limited. Lonell was a Software Development Team Lead at Sunny Group of Companies from 2015 to 2019, where they developed and managed software, optimised data queueing, and revamped internal development methodologies. From 2019 to 2022, they held three roles at PayPal, as a Staff Backend Engineer, Technology Leadership Program, and Senior Backend Developer. Currently, they are a Staff Software Engineer at Juni.

Lonell Liburd completed their Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Computer Science from Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College in 2009. Lonell then went on to pursue their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, which they completed in 2012. Finally, they obtained their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from the same institution in 2014.
