Associate Vice President, Research & Evaluation at Jumpstart

Christine Patton has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of research and evaluation in the education sector. Christine started their career as a Researcher for Visitor Studies at the Smithsonian Institution, where they conducted studies to understand visitor behavior and engagement. Christine then worked as a Program Specialist/Intern at the U.S. Department of Education.

Continuing their career in research and evaluation, Patton joined the University of Virginia as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they led focus groups, observed classrooms, and coordinated research activities. Christine then became a Post-doctoral Research Associate, contributing to the evaluation of social-emotional interventions.

Patton then worked at the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a Senior Research Analyst, focusing on early childhood, family engagement, and out-of-school time. In this role, they produced research-based tools and facilitated training experiences for educators and administrators.

Currently, they hold a position at Jumpstart, where they have progressed through various roles. Beginning as a Director, Research & Evaluation, they led efforts to evaluate thousands of children and volunteers annually. Christine then became a Senior Director, Research & Evaluation, and later an Associate Vice President, Research & Evaluation. In these roles, they oversaw the evaluation of Jumpstart's curriculum and played a crucial role in increasing the quality and rigor of their evidence base.

Christine Patton completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Anselm College, from 1999 to 2003. Christine then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology at Boston College, from 2003 to 2004. Later, they obtained a Ph.D in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia, from 2005 to 2009.
