Melissa Denny has been in the workforce since 1998, beginning their career as a Special Projects Editor at The Pilot. In 2015, they took on the role of Inventory Specialist at RGIS. In 2019, they became a Freelance Writer while also taking on roles as an Associate Director and Wellness Advisor at Joiya Inc. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Mentor at Hugh & Grace.

Melissa Denny received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication Studies/Print Journalism from the University of Lynchburg in 1994. During their time at the University of Lynchburg, they also completed a Certificate of Completion from The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars in Journalism in 1993.
