Mpume Ngobese has extensive work experience in various roles within the advertising and communications industry. Mpume started their career at Johnnic Communications as a Programme Assistant for the Johnnic BDFM Journalism Training Programme from April 2002 to May 2004. Mpume then worked at SYNERGY AFRICA LIMITED as an Account Executive from May 2004 to December 2006. Mpume joined Paton Tupper as an Account Manager from January 2007 to June 2008. Mpume then moved to Yellowwood Future Architects and served as an Account Director from June 2008 to December 2011, followed by a role as a Business Unit Director from January 2012 to April 2013.

Since May 2013, Mpume has been with Joe Public, where they have held several positions. Mpume started as a Business Unit Director, responsible for a portfolio of brands, project direction, strategy, creative, project management, and financial management. From March 2018 to April 2019, they served as the Managing Director. Mpume then transitioned to the role of Managing Director from May 2019 to October 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Co-Managing Director since October 2020.

Mpume Ngobese attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1997 to 2001, earning a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Marketing and Management. In 2015, they briefly studied Leadership in Strategic Health Communication at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
