Santiago Morales Zamora has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Santiago started their career as a Mechanical Design Engineer at TechShop International, where they led design projects for industrial machinery and test equipment used in PVC piping manufacturing. During this time, they were responsible for engineering and design work, including facilitating cross-functional communication and solving complex design challenges.
Santiago then worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, focusing on experimental research in high strain-rate deformation. In this role, Santiago designed test setups and equipment for experiments using Lorentz force interaction to induce high-speed radial expansion of aluminum samples.
Santiago later joined Specialized Bicycle Components, where they held positions as a Mechanical Engineer for Testing and as the Managing Mechanical Engineer for Testing. In these roles, they conducted research and development for bicycle structural components, including designing experiments, acquiring and analyzing data, and designing test hardware. Santiago also managed a global testing infrastructure, overseeing test engineers and lab technicians.
Currently, Santiago is working at Joby Aviation as the Lead for Testing, where they are responsible for testing integration and sub-systems. Santiago previously served as the Lead for Safety and had a role as a Mechanical Engineer.
Santiago Morales Zamora holds a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica UCR, between the years 2003 and 2007. Additionally, Santiago has obtained a certification in Preventing Workplace Harassment from Emtrain, although the month and year of acquisition are not provided.
