Paul Harley

Lead SQA Automation Engineer at Joby Aviation

Paul Harley has a diverse work experience in the field of quality assurance and software testing. Their most recent role was as the Lead SQA Automation Engineer at Joby Aviation, starting in 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Roku Inc. as a Sr. QA Engineer from 2017 to 2018.

Before their tenure at Roku, Paul worked at LightSpeed Retail as a Test Engineer from 2014 to 2016. In this role, they developed multiple regression test suites in Python, including one for verifying the functionality of the LightSpeed public API.

From 2007 to 2014, Paul worked at Citrix Systems, Inc. as a Senior QA Engineer and Test Developer. Paul implemented a Rapid Software Testing strategy for the Desktop Director console, increasing product coverage and reducing customer-reported defects.

At Navio Systems, Paul served as a Senior QA Engineer from 2003 to 2007. Paul developed a Perl regression test suite for Tomcat servlets, which effectively uncovered bugs that would have been difficult to find through traditional GUI testing.

Before that, Paul worked at InterSAN as a QA Engineer from 2000 to 2003. Paul developed an automated GUI regression test suite that ran on every daily build, contributing to a reduction in regressions.

Prior to InterSAN, they worked at ShopEaze.com as a Sr. QA Engineer in 2000, where they devised and executed test plans for web performance and stress testing. Paul used the Silk Performer tool to identify non-performant processes.

Paul began their career at Starfish as a Development QA Engineer from 1998 to 2000. Here, they worked on software synchronization between mobile devices and desktop organizer applications.

Overall, Paul Harley brings extensive experience and expertise in software testing, regression testing, automation, and performance testing to their roles.

Paul Harley obtained a National Diploma in Sciences from the University of Greenwich. Paul then went on to complete a Higher National Diploma in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing from the same university between 1986 and 1988. Later, in 2016-2017, they obtained a Full Stack Web Development Certification from freeCodeCamp. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained two certifications - one in Python GUI Development with Tkinter from Lynda.com in September 2016, and another in Python Generators from LinkedIn in September 2016.
