Amanda Bastian

Airframe & Actuator Structural Integrity Team Lead at Joby Aviation

Amanda Bastian has an extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. Amanda started their career at Newport News Shipbuilding as an Engineer 1 in 2006. From there, they moved on to work at Goodrich Aerostructures as a Stress/FEM and Loads Engineer III from 2007 to 2009. Amanda then joined Northrop Grumman as a Stress Engineer from 2009 to 2010. In 2010, Amanda joined D3 Technologies as a Stress Engineer before transitioning to United Technologies in 2012. At United Technologies, they held various roles including Contract Structural Analyst from 2012 to 2014, Lead Component Engineer from 2014 to 2015, On Site Technical Representative at Customer from 2015 to 2017, and Nacelle Integration Lead from 2017 to 2017. Amanda then worked at Terrafugia as a Flight and Primary Structure Champion from 2017 to 2019 and as a Technical Fellow from 2019 to 2019. Currently, they are working at Joby Aviation as the Airframe & Actuator Structural Integrity Team Lead.

Amanda Bastian completed their undergraduate education at Syracuse University from 2002 to 2006, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 2016 and 2017, they enrolled in the L.A.M.P (Leadership and Management Program) at UC San Diego Extended Studies. Prior to their time at Syracuse University, Amanda attended Northfield Mount Hermon from 2000 to 2002. In 2020, they pursued further education and obtained a degree in Composite Structural Engineering Technology (CSET) from Wichita State University.
