Lead Developer at Jiffy

Alex Kallaway is the Founder & Director of Ghost Octopus Inc., a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Jiffy as a Lead Developer from September 2020 until the present, and as a Web Developer from September 2019 to September 2020. From June 2015 until March 2020, they served as the Toronto Community Leader at Free Code Camp, where they created and grew the Toronto group. Alex also worked as a Full Stack Developer at Pilot Interactive Inc. from March 2018 to August 2019, and as an Intermediate Full Stack Developer at Be A Part Of from April 2017 to March 2018. Additionally, they have experience as a Front End Web Developer at Vretta Inc. from February 2016 to April 2017. Prior to their career in technology, Alex worked as a Digital Marketing Coordinator and Advertising and Promotions Specialist at We Simplify the Internet (WSI) from November 2014 to February 2016, and in various roles including Hiring Coach (Co-op) at ClearFit from May 2013 to December 2013. Alex also gained experience as a Product Management Associate (Co-op) at Remote Stylist from June 2012 to September 2012. Alex's earliest work experience was as a Violinist with the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Chamber Orchestra from July 2005 to September 2011, where they performed as part of the first group of violins.

Alex Kallaway attended several educational institutions throughout their academic career. From 1998 to 2008, they studied at Sakhalin Physics/Math Lyceum and obtained their High School Diploma. During this time, they focused on subjects such as Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Literature, and others.

In 2008, Alex enrolled at Sakhalin State Music School, where they studied violin, piano, music theory, music literature, and group playing in an orchestra until 2005.

Continuing their education, they then attended Sakhalin State University from 2008 to 2010, specializing in the Japanese language.

In 2011, Alex pursued their interest in Japanese further by studying at Hokkaido Bunkyo University for a short period, focusing on both Japanese and English languages.

Simultaneously, in 2011, they also joined Humber College, completing the Business Administration (Co-Op) - Advanced Diploma program from 2011 to 2014. Alex'smain fields of study during their time at Humber College were management and marketing.

Finally, in 2015 and 2016, Alex attended freeCodeCamp, where they obtained a Full Stack Web Development Certificate, specializing in computer software engineering.

Throughout their education, Alex Kallaway displayed a diverse range of interests and a commitment to continuous learning.
