Lisa Ellison has a diverse work experience spanning various positions in the nonprofit and education sectors. Since 2018, they have been working at The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, starting as the Project Manager of the Jewish Early Childhood Education Leadership Institute and progressing to Director of the Los Angeles Jewish Teen Initiative and Vice President of Wellness Initiatives & Teen Engagement. Currently, they hold the role of Senior Vice President of Leadership Development. In 2019, they also worked as an Adjunct Professor at CUNY School of Professional Studies. Prior to these roles, Lisa served as the Preschool Administrative Director at YWCA USA and the Senior Learning Specialist at NYC Early Childhood Professional Development Institute. Lisa began their career at BronxWorks, where they held positions as a Project Manager and Program Coordinator, overseeing various programs focused on maternal health, education, and literacy.
Lisa Ellison completed their Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology from Barnard College from 1998 to 2001. Lisa then pursued a Master's degree in Education from City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College between 2002 and 2004. In 1998, they also studied Spanish Language at the Universidad de Salamanca. Later in 2015, Lisa completed a program in Early Childhood Education and Teaching at UCLA Extension.
In addition to their formal education, Lisa obtained several certifications. In December 2015, they received the California Child Development Program Director Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. In July 2014, they earned the Child Development Associate Credential Professional Development Specialist from The Council for Professional Recognition. Furthermore, Lisa holds a New York State Permanent N-6 Teaching Certification, which was obtained in 2003.
