Erwin van Geffen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the medical field. Erwin is currently serving as the President of the Dutch Lungsurgical Society at the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Longchirurgie. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice-president of the Dutch Lungsurgical Society. Erwin also has extensive experience at the Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis, where they served as the Chief Executive Officer and a Surgeon. Erwin has also worked as a Fellow Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at Medisch Centrum Leeuwarden. Earlier in their career, Erwin was a General Thoracic Resident and Surgical Resident in training at the Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis. Erwin also served as a Surgical Resident in training at UMC Utrecht and Radboudumc. Additionally, Erwin underwent pilot training with the Koninklijke Luchtmacht.
Erwin van Geffen has a PhD in Surgery from Utrecht University, which they obtained from 1996 to 2002. Prior to that, they earned a Doctoral degree in Medicine from Radboud University, from 1986 to 1994. Erwin also attended the Rijks Luchtvaart School Eelde (SVO 86) in 1986, and the Mgr. Zwijsen College from 1980 to 1986. In terms of certifications, they obtained a Traumasurgery certification from the Dutch Society for Trauma Surgery in January 2012, and certifications in General Thoracic Surgery and Lungsurgery from the Dutch Society for Lung Surgery and the Dutch Society for Pulmonary Surgery, respectively, in 2003.
