Raj Hanvesakul, MD PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Raj started their career in the medical field as a General Surgeon in the NHS from 2000 to 2004, before specializing in Transplant Surgery from 2004 to 2011. During this time, they also worked as a Senior Medical Advisor in UK Medical Affairs at Novartis from 2011 to 2013, where they focused on Transplantation, Hepatitis C, and Antimicrobials.
Raj then transitioned to the role of Associate Medical Director in EU Medical Affairs at Astellas Europe from 2013 to 2014, where they specialized in Transplantation. From 2014 to 2017, they served as the Medical Director and EMEA Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Lead for Hepatitis C at Gilead Sciences, overseeing medical affairs in the Europe, Middle East, and Australia region.
From 2017 onwards, Raj Hanvesakul joined Jazz Pharmaceuticals, where they held several positions. Raj started as the Senior Medical Director and EU/RoW Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Lead, specializing in Rare Diseases, Haematology, and Transplantation from 2017 to 2019. Seeking further specialization, Raj Hanvesakul enrolled at The Royal College of Surgeons of England from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a degree in General Surgery, MRCS (Eng).
With a desire to deepen their knowledge in a specific field, they joined the University of Birmingham in 2005. In 2009, Raj completed their Ph.D. in Immunology, focusing on this area of study.
