Laurence Smith has extensive work experience, beginning in 2001 with Savoy Networking, where they served as Director, designing and implementing computer and phone systems. In 2003, they joined the U.S. Department of State as Deputy Resident Program Manager, managing maritime and boat operation training, and Regional Coordinator, East and Southern Africa, supervising the PISCES border management system. In 2014, they were Director at Tierney Corporation, where they reviewed investment vehicles and developed strategic plans. From 2019 to 2020, they worked at the US Army Corps of Engineers as Construction Control Representative, overseeing requirements of the contract for construction scheduling, plans of operations, the contractor(s) safety program, manpower, technical drawings, progress, and quality control reporting. Most recently, they have been Quality Control and Safety Manager at Jay Cashman, Inc. since 2021, responsible for implementing and monitoring the Accident Prevention Plan, ensuring the construction meets USACE standards, and inspecting the work site.
Laurence Smith received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Anthropology - Physical, Cultural, Medical and Biological from Tulane University between 1989 and 1993. In 1999, they obtained a Microsoft Certified Professional certification from Microsoft. In October 2020, they obtained an OSHA 30 certification from the OSHA Safety Training Institute. In February 2021, they obtained a CQM-C and Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification from the US Army Corps of Engineers.
