Scott Abernethy began their work experience at Production Software in 1998 as a Software Quality Engineer. Scott then joined Radio Computing Services in 1999 as a Software Engineer. In 2001, they joined Stratex Networks as a Senior Software Engineer and later became the Lead Software Designer. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Harris Stratex Networks. Scott then moved to Aviat Networks in 2008 as a Principal Software Engineer, where they led the development of a n-tier client/server application. Since 2013, Scott has been working at Jarden as the Head of Development.
Scott Abernethy earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Canterbury, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. In 1999, they briefly attended the University of Canterbury, focusing on Mathematics and Philosophy, although they did not obtain a specific degree in this field. Later, from 2001 to 2003, Scott attended Massey University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, though it is not specified if they completed it.
