Mia Russell is an experienced professional in the field of history and cultural preservation, currently serving as the Director of Special Initiatives at the Japanese American National Museum since June 2021, following roles as Manager of Special Initiatives and Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. Previously, Mia held the position of Manager at the Japanese American Confinement Sites Consortium from January 2020 to March 2023, focusing on the preservation and interpretation of Japanese American history during World War II. As Executive Director of Friends of Minidoka from February 2016 to May 2021, Mia fostered community partnerships and coordinated educational initiatives. Earlier experience includes roles as a Student Researcher with the National Park Service, an Interpretive Park Ranger with the Bureau of Land Management, and a Teaching Assistant at Boise State University. Mia holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Soka University of America and a Master of Applied Historical Research from Boise State University.
