Sameer Simms has a diverse work experience. Sameer started their career in 2013 as a Graduate Student (Researcher) at The University of the West Indies, where they also worked as an Adjunct Lecturer. During their time there, they instructed various courses and conducted research. In 2015, Sameer worked as an intern at the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation. Sameer then joined the Harvard National Model United Nations as a Delegate in 2014. Sameer's professional experience also includes roles at Wigton Windfarm Limited, where they worked as a Lecturer, and at the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited. At the Jamaica Public Service Company, they held multiple positions, including Business Strategy Analyst and Director of Generation Operations, Planning & Performance.

Sameer Simms has a diverse education history. Sameer obtained a Diploma in Physical Sciences from Cornwall College in 2008. Sameer then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics and Mathematics at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, from 2010 to 2013. Sameer furthered their studies at the same institution, completing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Alternative Energy from 2013 to 2016. In 2018, they attended the Corporate Finance Institute® (CFI) and earned a Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst certification in Finance, General. Sameer has also obtained additional certifications, such as the Certified Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Professional (FP&), from the Association for Financial Professionals in 2021.
