Tim Oakley has a diverse work experience, starting in 1991 as a Kitchen Manager at Pappas Restaurants, Inc. Tim then worked in sales at US Foods from 1998 to 2004. Later, they joined Sysco as a Marketing Associate and stayed with the company until 2010. During this time, they also served as the Assistant Pastor at Christ Family Church in 2009. Currently, Oakley is the Director of Multi-Unit & K-12 Sales at Jake's Finer Foods.

Tim Oakley received their B.A. in Psychology/Business from the University of Houston from 1988 to 1991. Tim then pursued their Master's of Divinity from the Houston Graduate School of Theology, completing it from 1997 to 2001.
