Esther Newell

Esther Newell has a diverse work experience in the field of theater and costume design. Esther'smost recent position was as a Theatre Teacher at Jackson Public Schools, where they taught APAC Theatre to students in grades 4-12. Prior to that, they worked as a Costume Designer at New Stage Theatre for a brief period in 2021.

From 2015 to 2020, Esther worked at Northwest Rankin High School as a Theatre Teacher, where they taught various theater classes, supervised and mentored student designers and technicians, and served as the Marketing Director for NWR Thespians.

In addition to their teaching roles, Esther has also gained experience in publicity and social media as the Publicity/Social Media Chairperson for Mississippi Thespians in 2017-2018. Esther has also worked as a Costume Designer at the Mississippi Children's Museum in 2016.

Esther started their career in the arts as a KidzArt Teacher at KidzArt in 2014 and later worked as an Overhire Craftsperson/Stitcher and Costume Designer at The University of Southern Mississippi and New Stage Theatre in the same year. Esther also worked as an Overhire Stitcher/Craftsperson at New Stage Theatre for a brief period in 2014.

Before entering the theater industry, Esther worked as a Fitter/Stitcher at Nordstrom in 2013. Overall, Esther Newell has gained valuable experience in teaching theater, costume design, and working with various organizations in the performing arts industry.

Esther earned a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre/Theatre Design and Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
