Kristina Durkin

Professional Learning Lead, Mid-atlantic Region at IXL Learning

Kristina Durkin's work experience begins in 2013 when they worked as a Corps Member for Teach For America. Kristina was selected from a competitive pool and received intensive training in instructional planning, classroom management, and meeting the diverse needs of learners. In this role, they helped pilot a blended learning math program in a Title I middle school.

In 2015, Kristina joined Union County Public Schools as a Teacher at Marvin Elementary School. Kristina taught fifth grade and was certified as an Elementary IT Mentor Teacher. Kristina was recognized for their excellence as a teacher, receiving nominations for Teacher of the Year.

In 2018, Kristina started working at IXL Learning as a Subscription Renewal Specialist. Kristina then moved onto the role of Account Manager, where they partnered with district and school leaders to develop implementation plans for the product. Kristina achieved demo certification and provided training to maximize IXL's impact on classrooms. Kristina successfully renewed and expanded IXL's presence within their territory.

Kristina advanced within IXL, becoming a Professional Learning Specialist in 2019 and a Senior Professional Learning Specialist in 2020. In these roles, they led a team of specialists, provided feedback and coaching, and supported the development of presentation skills.

Currently, Kristina serves as the Lead Professional Learning Specialist at IXL Learning, leading a team and mentoring teammates to achieve higher levels of performance. Kristina provides ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure consistency and quality across the team. Kristina also coaches individuals to develop presentation skills for career growth.

Kristina Durkin earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Later, in February 2018, they became a Google Certified Educator. Additionally, Kristina obtained a certification as an Elementary Information Technology Mentor Teacher, which was provided by Union County Public Schools.
