Marisa B. has held a variety of roles in the biomedical engineering field since 2016. In 2016, they were an Undergraduate Research Fellow at both Virginia Tech and Houston Methodist. At Virginia Tech, they worked to further research of early detection technology for bladder cancer under the guidance of Dr. John Robertson. At Houston Methodist, they were selected from a large pool of applicants for a 10-week summer internship with the Center for Computational Surgery under Dr. Marc Garbey. In 2017, Marisa joined ivWatch, LLC as a Biomedical Engineer and was later promoted to Senior Biomedical Engineer. In this role, they managed clinical investigation operations that analyzed the effectiveness of ivWatch technology. Marisa also received ACRP-CP certification in October 2021 and was a Principal Investigator (PI) on 5 and Investigator on 7 clinical studies.
Marisa B. obtained a B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2017. Marisa also holds certifications in Keys to Effective Communication from Virginia Wesleyan University (2021), Association of Clinical Research Professionals - Certified Professional (ACRP-CP®) from ACRP - Association of Clinical Research Professionals (2021), Fundamentals of Supervision and Management from Virginia Wesleyan University (2021), Basic Statistics from Coursera (2018), Data Management for Clinical Research from Coursera (2018), and EIT (Engineer in Training) from NCEES (2017).
