Nicolas Lonfat is a Principal Scientist at Astellas Pharma, leading research projects focused on age-related macular degeneration and inherited retinal diseases since July 2023. Previously, as a Senior Scientist at Biogen, Nicolas championed preclinical development of RNA and gene editing therapies for inherited retinal diseases, managed scientific collaborations, and contributed to internal innovation efforts. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, focusing on gene-agnostic AAV gene therapies and retinal development mechanisms, as well as a PhD in Life Sciences from EPFL. Nicolas's career also encompasses founding a carpooling service for snow sport enthusiasts and roles in consultancy and research across various institutions.
