Maria (Mania) Tsoumita Thomas has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal and compliance field. Maria also gained experience at Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd. as a Legal Compliance Officer, where they handled AML investigations, SAR/STR preparations, and filings. Maria (Mania) also conducted compliance and tax transfer account review processes and reviewed PEP and high-risk client cases.
Before that, they served as Of Counsel at LEX FORTIS Law Firm, where they worked on various corporate law cases and contributed to business development for the Greek market. Maria (Mania) also worked at Schellenberg Wittmer as a Project Lawyer-Regulatory Compliance Specialist, where they conducted a regulatory investigation for a Swiss financial institution, participated in internal corporate investigations, and reviewed compliance processes and sensitive documents.
Maria started their career at Adiuvo Trustees Ltd as a Country Representative and later founded their own law firm, Tsoumita & Associates Law Offices, where they worked as an Attorney at Law. Maria (Mania) also worked as a Senior Associate/Attorney at Law at Kelemenis & Co and as an Associate/Attorney at Law at Rokas Law Firm and Dontas & Associates Law Firm, specializing in IP law.
Maria (Mania) Tsoumita Thomas completed their Bachelor's Degree in Law from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 1998. Maria (Mania) then pursued their LL.M degree at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, specializing in Masters at Law, from 1999 to 2000. Additionally, they participated in an Erasmus program at Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, studying Law.
